My country ’tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing!
These familiar, patriotic words penned by Samuel Francis Smith in 1831 remind us: There is much good in America about which we can sing.
News media may herald “disaster,” and trouble may knock on our doors. But collectively, Americans know better. We are one nation, under God. We are indivisible. There is liberty and justice for all.
The songs tell our story.
