What if everything you learned in church
To give, not to receive
To love with unreserved hearts
And set the captives free

Was bottled up inside your mind
Penned in by four square walls
And nothing good could come of it
For no one heard the call

To take the Gospel far and wide
And down your very street
To urban hubs and junkyard slums
For everyone you meet

Would not the world be brighter
As the joy of Christ was spread?
Would not some hearts to turned from sin
To live by grace instead?

I couldn’t help but wonder
As I gazed at lighted steeple
If the people inside that church
Knew that church was for the people

So with open hearts we’ll open doors
To take Christ’s message out
So that all good inside the church
Is now turned
Inside out
